A Year Later...

Life took me away from the search for a while but I've been in contact with many family members who have provided some valuable resources for both sides of my family so I will be updating soon.

Hi Tonya , Thanks for your postings, I am related to you through Pleasant Lilly's eldest son Levi, who is my Grandpa's great grandfather through Catherine Francis Shrewsbury and her daughter Versie Jane Hatcher -who was married to Samuel Austin Brown the father of Austin McClung Brown who just passed away at 87 years old. I still live n Hinton where several generations are buried. I appreciate your research as it opened up another branch that I had yet explored. I already had other family ties to the Meadors and Moodies but had never found the lilly link on any of my other lines.

Hello. I am the Regent of a NJ DAR chapter and trying to help a proposed woman connect her lineage so she can become a member. She is descended from Pleasant Lilly, all documented. Her problem is connecting Pleasant to his father with verified sites. Could you share with us from where your information came? This is the only relation she needs proof of. She has been told that she needs to attend the Lilly reunion to obtain the information but this year she was unable to attend due to the health conditions of both she and her husband who is an American vet on disability. Any help would be wonderful. (DAR does not accept findagrave as proof of relationship) TY. Sarah

I enjoyed reading this. I am the granddaughter of Henry Beecher Meadows II. His mother was a Lilly and direct ancestor of Robert Lilly. On the Meadows side, he is a direct ancestor of the Rev. Josiah Meadows that also started the Lilly settlement. The houses and buildings of Lilly were destroyed when the Bluestone Dam was constructed. Cemeteries had to be exhumed. This job was delegated to workers within the WPA, and my grandfather was a part of it. Would love to talk ancestry with you sometime!

I am a descendant of Robert Graham and Elizabeth Lockridge. My descent is as follows:
Robert Lockridge and Elizabeth Lockridge - had three daughters, Robert died in early 1770's.
Jane Graham was raised by her uncle, Col. Andrew Lockbridge, Augusta Co VA.
Jane Graham married Samuel Neil - Samuel Neil was also an orphan, James Neal was his father.
Moved to Kanawha Co. VA (now Nicholas Co. WV) in early 1800's. Samuel and Jane sold her portion of the Graham home place and moved west! Jane is the only descendant of Robert Graham
that I have found online.
